Radii Khabirov, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, has signed a decree establishing the tentative dates for the 2025 Sabantuy celebrations across the region's districts.
The festivities will commence on May 31 in the following districts: Aurgazinsky, Bizhbulyaksky, Burzyansky, Zilairsky, Kaltasinsky, Karmaskalinsky, Kugarchinsky, Chishminsky, and Yanaulsky.
The celebration will continue on:
- June 6: Zianchurinsky, Nurimanovsky, and Khaybullinsky districts
- June 7: Abzelilovsky, Arkhangelsky, Askynsky, Baimaksky, Bakalinsky, Birsky, Dyurtyulinsky, Ermekeyevsky, Karaidelsky, Kushnarenkovsky, Meleuzovsky, Miyakinsky, Sterlibashevsky, Ufimsky, and Chekmagushevsky districts
On Russia Day, June 12, Sabantuy will be celebrated in: Alsheevsky, Belebeyevsky, Baltachevsky, Belokataysky, Blagovarsky, Blagoveshchensky, Buraevsky, Davlekanovsky, Duvansky, Iglinsky, Ilishevsky, Kiginsky, Krasnokamsky, Mechetlinsky, Tatyshlinsky, Uchalinsky, Fedorovsky, and Sharansky districts.
The schedule continues with:
- June 14: Buzdyaksky, Mishkinsky, Salavatsky, and Tuymazinsky districts
- June 20: Kuyurgazinsky district
- June 21: Gafuriysky and Ishimbaysky districts
The Sabantuy season will conclude on July 19 in Beloretsky district.
This traditional Plow Festival, symbolizing the completion of spring fieldwork, attracts thousands of visitors annually. The celebrations feature folk festivities, horse races, kuresh wrestling (traditional belt wrestling), various competitions, and traditional feasts.
Note: The term "Sabantuy" (from Turkic "saban" - plow and "tui" - festival) is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage element and is typically used without translation in international contexts. The traditional belt wrestling "kuresh" is also maintained in its original form.
